Storelocal Protection

Storelocal Protection
When you store the things that matter to you, it makes sense to protect them too. Most self-storage leases include a clause that says the tenant assumes full responsibility for loss or damage—meaning if something happens, you’re on your own. Whether it’s a roof leak damaging your furniture or theft of valuable items, those risks are real.
With Storelocal Protection, you can add an extra layer of security and peace of mind. For a small monthly fee, you can protect your belongings against theft, vandalism, weather damage, and more. Talk to your facility manager today about adding up to $5,000 in coverage to your lease.
Coverage Options
- $9/month — $2,500 in coverage
- $10/month — $3,500 in coverage
- $12/month — $5,000 in coverage
Frequently Asked Questions
What’s covered?
Storelocal Protection reimburses you for the current replacement value of your items if they’re damaged or stolen, up to your selected coverage limit. In general, anything not specifically listed as an exclusion is covered.
What’s excluded?
As with any protection plan, there are some exclusions. You can review the full list in the addendum available from your facility manager. It’s worth taking a few minutes to read through so you know exactly what’s included.
Can I use my homeowners or renters insurance instead?
If your policy covers offsite storage, you may be able to. However, many policies come with deductibles—often around $1,000—and filing a claim could impact your future premiums. Storelocal Protection has no deductible, doesn’t affect your insurance rates, and pays based on current replacement value rather than depreciated value.
What if I need more than $5,000 in coverage?
Start by speaking with your facility manager for approval to store higher-value items. If approved, additional insurance options are available. Storelocal partners with Deans & Homer to offer coverage up to $50,000 per unit. Visit their website, search for your facility, and select “Instant Quote” to explore pricing and options.
How do I file a claim?
Claims can be submitted online at www.storelocalclaims.com.
How will I know my claim was submitted successfully?
After submitting your claim, you’ll see a confirmation page and receive a confirmation email. If you opted in, you’ll also get a confirmation text message.
How long does the claims process take?
ClaimsPros, the third-party claims administrator, typically contacts your facility manager within one business day to verify coverage. Once all required documentation is received, most claims are processed and paid within 24–48 hours.
